      Verdict

      HI SHINKO and Aahaygirl set the standard and The Scorching Wind will need to raise his game in order to get in a blow. Nominal preference is for Rod Millman's runner who took a while to get the hang of things last season but who then finished runner-up on his third, fourth and fifth starts before finishing in a highly creditable midfield position in a valuable sales race. He didn't shirk the issue in any of those contests and has been found the right race in which to gain a deserved success. Aahaygirl is no pushover and the handicapper has her rated a couple of pounds higher. Karl Burke has a fair strike rate at the track and won't have made the long journey for the air; his filly was set some really tough tasks last season and will relish this drop in grade. Few positives can be gleaned from the performances of the remainder although The Scorching Wind was staying on quite strongly in a Doncaster maiden when last seen. Handicaps may be his forte though so we'll watch him today and select Hi Shinko.
