    Verdict

The Galloping Shoe ran better at Windsor last month over six furlongs and should appreciate the extra furlong today but Jeremy Noseda's gelding may just be a shade high in the weights at present and a better bet looks to be MASWERTE, who gets the vote over Ivory Lace. Steve Woodman's mare is 8lbs higher than when scoring at Brighton last month but she won comfortably that day and was not disgraced in a better race than this at Goodwood last time so cannot be discounted. Vhujon has been well held in his last few outings and looks best left out of calculations with a bigger threat likely to come from Lodi. John Akehurst's gelding has run well off the same mark that he races off today in each of his last two starts and he should again be thereabouts. Rod Millman's Balata won well at Leicester at the beginning of the month but he struggled off his new mark at Wolverhampton last week and is likely to do so again in a race taken to go to Maswerte. Luca Cumani's colt should appreciate the return to faster ground having struggled to reproduce his best on good ground in his last three starts since winning at Newbury in June and he looks the one to be on.
