Verdict

With English Jim and Barranco looking to be in the grip of the handicapper now, it may be worth taking a chance with Yes My Lord, who is probably better than he showed on his return. The selection showed his best form when encountering soft ground on his final start of three attempts in novice hurdles last term so has ground conditions to suit. The Pipe yard was badly out of form when the son of Mister Lord made his return in December and the likelihood is that the seven-year-old is a good deal better than he showed that day. Top weight Full On, like Barranco, has been well held off similar marks of late so may be best watched. Peter Winkworth's horses have been in good form of late so At The Double has to be respected but he has given little sign of encouragement recently, while Black Collar needs to improve on novice hurdle form to take this. Jackie Boy has not looked like troubling the judge since making a winning start in a bumper, while Breezer represents a stable very much out of form at the moment. English Jim has claims on the evidence of form shown at Fontwell in November but has twice disappointed since then and a better bet may be Martin Pipe's Yes My Lord who gets the vote.
