    Verdict

Little Big Boy can make a winning start against Rio Taffeta, with Geoffdaw also worth noting. Richard Hannon has been busy with his all-weather runners throughout the winter, but you can be sure that he will have taken plenty of time out to prepare his battalion of juveniles for an assault on the spring and summer prizemoney. Little Big Boy has plenty of speed in his pedigree, with the dam being a half-sister to the useful Airwave, and as the son of Danetime is entered for a couple of valuable sales races at Newbury and York later this year, we can assume that he is regarded as a decent prospect by connections. Rio Taffeta was not beaten far on his Kempton bow last week in the race won by Fat Boy, but as the latter is a stablemate of the selection, Hannon has a line to work on. Geoffdaw was sent off favourite on his Southwell debut but got a bit outpaced, finishing third in the end, and will be suited by the faster ground here. His brother Espartano was a precocious sort last year, so he should be followed. On this occasion though, we are prepared to take a chance with Little Big Boy.
