Verdict

MANIKON EROS is the selection in the finale with Batonnier and Kilmore West on the shortlist. Rebecca Curtis and Tony McCoy have had a very strong strike rate so it would be no surprise to see the Old Vic gelding assume the mantle of favouritism as a consequence. The breeding suggests that two miles will be sharp enough. Batonnier is a half-brother to a number of French winners so the market must be watched. Kilmore West produced a better effort at Chepstow earlier in the month though conditions will differ markedly here. Grandads Horse was bought very cheaply at the Cheltenham sales. His pedigree is certainly more flat led than the majority of his opposition. Santomina shaped with promise on a previous visit here though disappointed next time out. The market will offer most guidance though in the absence of it, we side with Manikon Eros.
