In depth

Verdict

ELLA WATSON is the tentative suggestion ahead of the pair at the top of the weights Bella Haze and Raise You Five. Charlie Swan's mare has been absent since October but the form of that race has worked out fairly well and she may be able to make the most of this opportunity against her own sex. She only has a win in an all-weather bumper to her name and is no star but her latest run was the best of her career to date over hurdles and she may prove capable of building on it. Bella Haze comfortably accounted for Pearl at Ludlow and should be able to confirm that form under her penalty if none the worse for her exertions whilst Raise You Five was entitled to need her outing at Chepstow and should have more to offer. Tara Taylor (who is now tried in a tongue tie) and Delays Expected would have claims on the pick of their form but the yard is going through a quiet spell whilst Miss Overdrive has her work cut out to confirm Towcester running with Genies Lamp at these weights although Alan King's runner has been in better form since and may improve for cheekpieces. Epee Celeste is unexposed for David Pipe and needs to be monitored for signs of support as well but the tentative vote's awarded to Ella Watson.
