In depth

Verdict

ARAGALL looked as though he had more to offer when winning at Nottingham and is preferred to Fire Raiser and Shabak Hom. The selection was having just his second start for George Baker when landing a Ladies Amateur rider handicap in good style in the East Midlands and the ex-German trained gelding has his rise in the weights negated, in part, by the claim of his jockey. The form of those races can be suspect but he quickened up well when asked to go about his work and did look good value for the winning margin. Fire Raiser is by no means guaranteed to see out this trip on breeding but the way that he stayed on over a mile at Windsor suggests that the experiment is well worth trying and his yard has been in decent form. Shabak Hom produced one of his better efforts last time but may not be entirely straightforward whilst Dane Cottage is an interesting contender on debut for David Evans having won a seller in decisive fashion for Gay Kelleway last time. James Pollard is running well at present but is exposed and lacks the same scope for improvement as Aragall.
