In depth

Verdict

Course winner Star Double had a recent confidence boosting win between the flags and has to be considered but Philip York has been doing well with his runners in hunter chases of late and he can take the honours here with PENNY DOC, who gets the vote over We're Confused. The last mentioned was a close up third before falling at Leicester last time but has every chance on the form shown previously when a good second behind Pristine Condition at Market Rasen last month and he would have every chance if able to reproduce that form here. Pass The Parsel has shown improved form in point-to-points since last being seen under rules, winning his last three starts, and he has to be considered along with High Skies, who has his first outing for Richard Newland having won on his final start in Ireland in October. The Accordion Man has been running consistently well in points of late and is another worthy of consideration but it is hard to get away from Penny Doc. Philip York's gelding was a good winner at Folkestone two starts ago and lost no caste in defeat at Stratford on Monday so he looks the one to be with, provided that this does not come too soon.
