In depth

Verdict

GREY MONK won a point-to-point in very taking fashion which resulted in him being sold at Goffs for 210,000 euros. He made his debut for new connections in a hot maiden won by Ned Buntline at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day and showed up well enough to suggest he'll soon start recouping some of the outlay, starting today. Un Beau Roman started odds-on for his debut under Willie Mullins' charge at Tramore but didn't appear suited by front-running and was beaten a long way. With more restraint he can prove that run all wrong while the four-year-old Faanan Aldaar has a chance on his close second to Dalasani at Cork though he'll need to jump much better than he did in a Grade 3 at Punchestown last time. Pacelli Road ran very poorly in Dalasini's race at Cork though that was nowhere near his true running and he can do much better.
