Verdict

In a very open novice hurdle a chance is taken with Jolly Boy, Darnayson and Field Roller are two alternatives. The selection finished fifth in a valuable hurdle race at Auteuil last winter and was going well when falling on his chase debut at Uttoxeter. This may be a confidence test following that fall, but nevertheless in this weak company he must hold strong claims Darnayson has questions to answer after being well beaten at Newbury last time but his previous two outings in bumpers were full of promise and he should figure prominently. The Martin Pipe trained Field Roller has shown little in two hurdle events but has to be considered against this opposition. Tom Bell showed some promise last time and looks the best of the remainder, but in a race that will not take too much winning Jolly Boy is a tentative choice
