Verdict

There appears to be plenty of dead wood so we'll take a chance on the fitness of MAXI CHOP. The French import hasn't been seen since a major Cheltenham disappointment in December but two previous runs, notably when a very pleasing fourth at the same venue in a hot handicap won by Quick Jack, puts him clear of this opposition. Roberto Pegasus was three lengths behind in sixth on that occasion and is not expected to reverse placings on 3lb worse terms having really gone on from that run in two subsequent outings. Master Malt is being brought along very quietly by Jonjo O'Neill and should repay the kindness in time whilst something must have been amiss the last time with Old Chief as he did show some promise on debut.
