It's almost impossible to recommend either Only Hope or Roxane Bruere here as the former is still to register a win in 48 career starts and finds nothing off the bridle while the latter's only success came in a very weak mares' novices' handicap last year off a 10lb lower mark. Hearty Royale is going backwards and Cannon Fire isn't the force of old while Budva appears closely matched with Only Hope on Lingfield running. HALING PARK hinted that a race like this might be within his compass when fifth at Southwell in January. He was only half-a-length behind Royal Entourage, who has won twice since, so gets the nod.
