In depth

Verdict

DESIRE TO EXCEL, Hel's Angel and Tilos Gem are the principals here with Desire to Excel looking the most likely winner. Tilos Gem followed up a promising effort on the all-weather by justifying favouritism next time, before a disappointing effort recently. There did not appear to be any reason for that below par effort and he is passed over. A winner at Thirsk and Pontefract this season, Hel's Angel did not seem to relish the stiff finish at Beverley recently, and he too is passed over until returning to better form. Desire To Excel has won three of his last four, with the only defeat coming on the all-weather. He is clearly progressive, unexposed, and open to further improvement. Desire to Excel is also a game performer, and he can score once more.
