Verdict

CASUAL GLIMPSE is one of many horses that Richard Hannon could have sent here and is preferred to High Award and Approve. A winner at Goodwood on debut, the Compton Place colt has had his form boosted by the second winning since. His experience of running downhill should stand him in good stead here and he is expected to improve further over this extra furlong. Approve is also up in trip and is considered, although on a form line through Chilworth Lad he has a little to find. Singapore Lily is a stablemate of Chilworth Lad and she showed plenty of guts to master Loves Theme at York. Knavesmire maidens are normally strong so she is far from discounted, along with Where's Romeo who was a rare Ascot runner for his yard but it resulted in success. Saucy Buck has the experience, Premier Clarets is a trier but may just lack the class, whilst High Award is a different matter after winning at the Curragh on debut and he escapes a penalty for that success. He has been beaten twice since but each reversal came in a strong race for the time of year. Interesting fayre then, but preference is for Casual Glimpse.
