      Verdict

Sariska has earned her right to head the market but Midday was impressive at Lingfield and it's far too early to give up on RAINBOW VIEW. Phillipina makes more appeal than her Chester conqueror Perfect Truth who enjoyed the run of the race and the Stoute runner must have pleased her trainer since to be allowed to line-up and she looks capable of making significant progress. Midday had Tottie and Wadaat behind when winning at Lingfield but the latter's trainer reckoned that his filly had an off-day and she has since gone close in the Italian Oaks at Milan. Tottie is entitled to come on for the run and should see out this longer trip but it's difficult to see why she should reverse the form with the Cecil runner who was most impressive. Midday has plenty of stamina on the dam side and should have no problem seeing out the trip; she already has experience of the track which has to be viewed as a positive and she could hardly be in better hands. Michael Bell has made no secret of the regard in which he holds Sariska and she impressed many when thrashing the field in the Musidora. The time wasn't great and one or two of those behind may not have run to form but this barrel chested filly always looked in command. This is a very different track but connections don't envisage any problems and she certainly travelled well at York. John Gosden believed that the ground was Rainbow View's undoing in the Guineas and the visual evidence certainly supported that as she looked ill at ease throughout but still had the resolution to battle on for fourth. That characteristic, coupled with her undoubted class makes her a fearsome foe. She shapes as though she'll have no problem seeing out this longer trip and, crucially, will have her ground so we'll take Rainbow View to turn the dreams that kept us warm over the winter into reality.
