In depth

Verdict

Plum Pudding put some disappointing efforts behind him when successful at Newmarket last week and Richard Hannon's gelding has to be respected but an 8lb rise for that success looks harsh and preference is for the reappearing Artimino, who gets the vote ahead of King of Dixie. The last mentioned is less exposed than most of these after just four starts and having run a very encouraging third in the Victoria Cup last time, he has solid claims off just a 3lb higher mark today. Bryan Smart's Sir Xaar was well held on his return at York but he may come on for the outing, while Skhilling Spirit has a bit to find with King of Dixie on Victoria Cup form. Danehillsundance ran better at Haydock last time and has to be respected but it may be worth taking a chance with Artimino on his return. James Fanshawe's colt showed progressive form last term until finding conditions too testing on his final start at Newmarket. The ground today is ideal for the son of Medicean and he is taken to make a winning reappearance.
