Verdict

High On Life keeps defying the handicapper and has won on good to firm the last twice. The top weight should give another good account while Maraayill came good at Newbury earlier this month, though all of his form is over longer trips. Johara is on a hat-trick after victories at Yarmouth and Kempton while Royal Warrior's latest third at Nottingham was a step up on previous form. Jazz won here in November but seems best with plenty of cut in the ground. KENNY THE CAPTAIN was behind the latter at Pontefract on his reappearance but showed more here on his next start in a much better race than this. Though all three of his wins so far have come on an easy surface, he handled good ground at Ripon last summer and is worth risking in this dropped in distance.
