MAGIC CITY looked a very smart prospect when winning by six lengths on his debut at Newbury in April. Things haven't gone to plan since but this looks a little easier than recent tasks and, on breeding, there's a good chance the step up 7f will suit. He gets the vote as he makes more appeal than stablemate Wolfgang at the weights, though the latter had Es Que Love behind when second at Newmarket in July in a race that's produced plenty of subsequent winners. West Leake Hare looks held on the form book, but the filly Jessie's Spirit is progressive and could be a factor if she stays the extra furlong. She looks a better bet than the more exposed See Clearly and Indepub.
