In depth

Verdict

A rapidly improving son of Dylan Thomas who followed a handicap victory at Dundalk with success in a Listed contest at Gowran. If LEARN is ready for this he should have few problems. Entries in the Irish Derby and Eclipse show that he's held in high regard which is hardly surprising given his form behind Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy and French Fifteen in the Group 1 Criterium at Saint-Cloud. His pedigree suggests middle-distances will be required this season and this looks an ideal start. Sharestan was the facile winner of the Irish Lincoln and was very unfortunate behind Famous Name at Leopardstown subsequently. He was involved in that farcical race won by Windsor Palace from St Nicholas Abbey over the C&D last month and there's more to come from him. Tannery was unplaced in the Nijinsky Stakes at a rain-soddened Leopardstown on Friday.
