Verdict

Tony Martin won this in 2010 with a short-priced favourite and the versatile PIRES is sure to attract support from the foot of the handicap. He's been operating on the Flat since scoring over the C&D in April and, as that was only his third start over fences, he looks well enough handicapped to take this. Colls Corner easily won a chase on heavy ground at Listowel before a good effort over hurdles but Galloping Gander may just find the ground a bit too soft. Echo Bob is a useful performer on his day but any further rain may scupper his chances so the main threat may emerge from Senior Again, who has been making steady progress and was in touch when falling in a strong race at Punchestown in May.
