In depth

Verdict

Hard Bought is more likely to go back over fences soon but did manage to gain a narrow success on his last start over fences in October under today's rider. Hold The Fire has shown up well in a couple of handicaps and is one of the few here with scope to do better but A Decent Excuse is a chaser who pulled up on his latest start over timber. PROVINCIAL PRIDE didn't run well at Thurles last time but his overall form gives him a real chance in a poor contest and Jayne Mangan's presence in the saddle is a big plus so he gets the nod. Ronnie O'Leary's Claiming Benefits ran his best race for a long time at Wexford last month and could snatch a place.
