In depth

Verdict

Vaxalco produced two fine efforts in handicaps before disappointing at Leopardstown and may not be suited by the conditions. Robert Tyner's horses have been in excellent form all season and TOOREEN looks another for the yard. She defied a couple of errors to gain a very impressive victory over the track and trip last month and even a 12lb hike in the weights shouldn't prevent a follow-up. Charles Magnes didn't show much in maidens but that didn't prevent strong support for his handicap debut at Gowran where he wasn't beaten far, staying on strongly over the 2m4f trip. He should go well again as should Kostar, whose best recent run was when just touched off by the useful Inis Meain on heavy ground at Navan. Do Be Doin' made a successful handicap debut at Thurles where she battled on strongly and her rider's claim helps ease the burden of the extra 7lb while Mines River produced easily her best run to date when stepping up to this trip at Limerick.
