Verdict

GABRIAL THE GREAT was outclassed in the Melrose Stakes at York but this looks a decent chance to regain the winning thread under conditions that have very much suited him in the past. Deia Sunrise didn't do too much wrong when just failing to overhaul Eastern Destiny over C&D though, frustratingly for connections, the handicapper has raised him 3lb though he will still be better off today with that rival. The Mark Johnston pair, Universal and Prussian, have continued to plunder handicaps at will this summer with the latter appearing particularly impressive on her latest outing at Haydock. Miss Cap Estel is in receipt of plenty of weight from the likely market principals, and the recent C&D winner shouldn't be inconvenienced by the prevailing ground as she broke her maiden at Ffos Las with plenty of give underfoot.
