Verdict

A decent handicap and THE KIDDYKID can follow up a recent course success although Medicea Sidera and Dabbers Ridge will make life difficult. The Kiddykid posted something of a shock when obliging at the top of the month, especially in light of a poor draw on the day. He seems to like the Chester air and with a fair draw and only a 3lb rise in the weights to overcome, he has a solid chance of a follow up. Connections have talked of a Turkish Group 2 for Medicea Sidera. She is clearly on the upgrade but the draw has done her few favours this afternoon. Dabbers Ridge is the class act in the race but having started the season with a promising victory at Warwick, it has been downhill ever since. Sir Xaar won well at Newcastle and has the one box today. That said, he was disappointing on a previous visit to the track so a note of caution is advised. Keep Discovering has plenty of early pace and it would be no surprise to see him dictating the early fractions. Kafuu was considered to be something of a horse for the future when with Jeremy Noseda before the wheels came off. He seems to have been revitalised by a switch to Simon Callaghan's. King's Bastion is the archetypal seven furlong specialist and should run his race. Fathsta has been inconsistent but on a going day and from a good draw, he could make a mockery of his likely odds. Good stuff and The Kiddykid edges the verdict.
