Verdict

After an excellent opening campaign, Gatepost was a disappointment last year but was expected to make a successful reappearance here earlier this month only to be outpaced over the minimum trip. Yair Hill has become a specialist at 7f and all four of his victories have been at that trip so it's doubtful he'll have the speed for this but SUMMERINTHECITY certainly will. Dandy Nicholls' charge has won three times over the trip and also from the same mark so gets the vote in a tight handicap. Pearl Ice looks a threat as he scored at Ripon in June from just 2lb lower and will be better for his reappearance at Newmarket.
