In depth

Verdict

Charlie Tokyo wasn't beaten far in a better race at Epsom a fortnight ago and can recoup the losses here ahead of Stotsfold and Blythe Knight. The last-named cruised to victory over timber at Aintree last month however he looks better bet with a bit of cut in the ground and so cannot be truly fancied unless the heavens open. Bazart is an intriguing runner given that his French form is hard to weigh-up so the market will help give a guide to his chances. European Dream romped to victory at Newcastle in the Spring Mile however he disappointed next time out. If back on song he has place claims, along with Stotsfold who has won twice over course and distance wand was progressive last year. However the feeling is that he may just need the run. The selection Charlie Tokyo came on markedly for his seasonal reappearance and Richard Fahey's gelding seems to have improved over the winter. He looks one to follow this year and gets the nomination.
