In depth

Verdict

The market will offer plenty of clues but without reference to it, BANKS AND BRAES is the call with Averroes and First In The Queue also respected. Whether Her Majesty makes her way to the card is in doubt but her colt can be forgiven a moderate run at Chester as he appeared not to handle the track. Although green on debut at Nottingham, there was enough to like about that performance to suggest that his turn will not be a million miles away. Averroes is very smartly bred. A half-brother to Persuade; he was unfancied on debut at Newbury and ran a race that belied his odds. First In The Queue is a half-brother to Imperial Lucky. His trainer is more than capable of having winners first time out at decent prices. Rio Command is a rare Irish raider in maidens. A second at Leopardstown reads well given that there was an Aidan O'Brien hotpot in behind. Natural Law hails from the Goldolphin academy. In fairness to the boys in blue, they have had far more first time out winners with their juveniles than is normally the case but the percentage call is invariably that of opposition. Comradeship looked as if he would learn plenty for his Newmarket debut. Comments that equally apply to Activate. Sir Bruno is best of the rest. Banks and Braes can bounce back this afternoon.
