      Verdict

Easter Mate was a 25/1 chance on his Newmarket debut but belied his odds with a fine effort in what looked a decent contest. He'll be difficult to beat though TASLEET may have his measure. William Haggas' speedily-bred colt was very green at York and jumped a path after a furlong but stayed on really well and wasn't beaten far at the finish. Showmethewayavrilo has shown some potential but may have to wait for a nursery to get off the mark so it could be the newcomer Mr Marbin, a half-brother to six winners, who is booked for a place.
