In depth

Verdict

Evan Williams saddles two runners in the opening maiden hurdle with Irish point-to-point winner Sordid Secret, who has disappointed so far over hurdles, marginally preferred to No More Whispers, who has been well beaten in all starts under rules, but a better bet looks to be BRING ON THE JUDGE, who gets the vote. The selection has only had the one start for Nigel Twiston-Davies but the seven-year-old made a pleasing debut when a close up fourth in a Bangor bumper on soft ground in December and is likely to do better now switched to hurdles and stepped up in trip. Keith Goldsworthy's Crannaghmore Boy was a point winner in Ireland and won a bumper here in December so he has plenty of ability and rates the main danger to the selection. Venetia Williams has her team in decent form so Sendinpost has to be respected but she has shown little sign of ability in two starts over hurdles and was unproven on a soft surface on the flat so is probably best watched. Lord Norman has shown winning form between the flags but needs to improve on all known rules form and a better bet looks to be the lightly raced Bring On The Judge, who may be good enough first time up over hurdles.
