Verdict

Old timer Bold Cross has already won twice here and can race off the same mark as when successful at Bath last summer. But his two runs this season have been poor. Jebril won by seven lengths at Newbury last month but the form of amateur riders' races is notoriously fickle and he might be worth opposing off an 8lb higher mark on ground that will be much faster than ideal. JACOB CATS has been taking on much better company and has been dropped 3lb since being held up well off the pace in a valuable handicap at Epsom. He'll go very close if anywhere near his best, though St Paul De Vence is usually thereabouts without being quite good enough.
