Verdict

A big field here and there will be no pussy-footing around from MRS SLOCOMBE, who can grace the winners enclosure with her presence ahead of Caster Sugar and When Doves Cry. The selection did herself no favours with a poor start at Lingfield a few days ago, resulting in her having to take a wide course and scuppering her chances. However, prior to that she had run well at Salisbury in defeat, and she shapes as though she will get home over a mile. With the ground to suit we will give her another chance. Caster Sugar should also appreciate this step up in trip and she will probably eventually be better over 10f. Fast ground suits and she already has some decent form over this undulating track, so she can go well. When Doves Cry hit form last time when third behind Friday's Newmarket scorer Edgeworth over this trip at Windsor. The form has clearly worked out well and the Barry Hills-trained filly is respected. You've Been Mowed made the frame, but did not yet convince she truly gets a mile, at Bath last week and she will need to prove that if she is to win this. Evening Sunset is not out of this but on balance probably needs a drop in the weights and a win here looks to be Mrs Slocombe's department.
