In depth

Verdict

Charlie Delta is the obvious one here but he has never won on ground slower than good and we will take him on with Silver Wind. The David Evans-trained gelding has not won on soft ground but does act on it, having finished in the frame on a number of occasions. This trip is ideal, he is slipping down the weights, and he looks worth chancing. Charlie Delta is much more at home when the ground is like a road but has to be taken very seriously after two wins from his last three starts. He is now 5lb higher than the latest of those, though a 7lb claimer will help negate that, and he can go close again. Arabian Spirit would have a chance if this were on faster ground, Bold Cross will get every yard but also wants it to dry up, while Starlight Gazer loves it soft, but comes from a yard under a bit of a cloud and we'll take Silver Wind as a tentative suggestion.
