      Verdict

Distances in excess of a mile have been beyond Pretty Kool so far and she is very much respected as she tries seven furlongs once more today. However, this is a lot tougher than the fillies only contest that she won at Folkestone and she is taken on with Wood Fern, who found the winning thread at nine days ago, and is fancied to cope with his 6lb penalty this afternoon. Other dangers include: Icecap, who is a filly in-form that has solid claims in this company, while Lord Chamberlain looks the pick of Milton Bradley's runners in the race and he will not need to find much to carry top weight to victory. Loch Laird is yet another that holds claims for anyone drawing up a list of each-way contenders, as he is a previous course and distance winner that is back on a winning mark today. His turf form seems to have turned a corner lately and he is one to keep a close eye on in the betting. However, Wood Fern took an age to see off the attentions of the handicapper and also arrives here on a very lenient mark. The form of his stable's runners has taken a turn for the better over the last fortnight or so and, with conditions very much in his favour, this son of Green Desert can strike again while he is such good heart.
