Verdict

Not too many reliable propositions go to post here and this looks to be a fiercely competitive contest for the grade. Our hopeful choice is Ambrose Princess. The selection was ultimately well held over a mile here just over a week ago but she was entitled to need that run, her first of the season. She has the highest rating in the race courtesy of some fair efforts as a juvenile which included two wins in this grade and this represents a marked drop in grade. New Balls Please would be a topical winner in the second week of Wimbledon and he is not without claims on the pick of his efforts. He, too, drops in grade having run adequately in a Brighton handicap in which Mama Leo could only finish last. That was New Balls Please's first run of the season and he could, conceivably, improve for this longer trip. Little Evie lacks a run this year and did disappoint on her final start of 2007 but she has a top jockey in the saddle for her return to action and did show ability in maidens last year. She's bred to improve with age, her trainer knows the family well and she's worth a cursory glance. The suggestion, though, is Ambrose Princess.
