Verdict

PENNEK ran a stormer to finish third in the Pertemps Final and should give punters a good run for their money off top-weight; the shortlist consists of Theatrical Moment, The Gossmoor Yank and The Package. Alan King has a strong hand here but Pennek, ridden by stable jockey Robert Thornton, looks the pick. He stayed on well up the hill to fill third spot at the festival and although he hits a flat spot, this slightly easier company may mean that he still able to pick them off close home. The Package was disappointing when last seen, as were Galient and Kayf Aramis (Pertemps Final winner) and each has a bit to prove now. Heathcliff, Lupanar and My Turn Now all sport blinkers, with the latter trying them for the first time, whilst The Old Pretender is a talented individual who will win sooner rather than later and he looks sure to make up into a nice chaser next season. The consistent duo of Gala Evening and Midas Way are yet another pair to add to the shortlist but we will stick with top-weight Pennek.
