Verdict

TURN ME ON has plenty going for him here and is taken to defy a 2lb rise and make it a fourth success at the track, although Ancient Cross and Malcheek can have a say. The last-named is likely to need a career-best to win this given the strength of the contest and the fact that he is 4lbs higher than his best win, which came two starts ago at Wolverhampton. Despite that, with the yard in good form and trip and ground to suit, plus course form to his name, he can go close. Ancient Cross has been well placed by Mick Easterby to win two of his last four starts, including over course and distance. Although he acts on good to firm he appears best on genuine good ground so unless there is a drop of rain he might be rushed off his feet, especially from this mark. Beaver Patrol has been much better than this in the past, but he has shown little for some time now and there are definite concerns over his stamina at this distance. Beckermet is another who has been significantly better in former days, but whose losing runs stretches back three years, and preference is for Turn Me On. The selection thrived in the spring last year when scoring both here and at Thirsk, and he hit form again last time when a firm ground course and distance winner from a mark of 80. From just 2lbs higher he is a confident pick to follow-up.
