Verdict

HOLYWELL can hardly be blamed for getting rid of Richie McLernon at the first at Wincanton on Boxing Day as he was badly hampered. Though a trifle disappointing so far over fences, he was only a head over this course and distance earlier and deserves a change of luck. Shotavodka is interesting as he has a rating of 144 over hurdles and only found one too good over the smaller obstacles and Bangor and Newbury in November. Tour D'Argent has only managed one place in six attempts over fences so far but has been quite highly tried and gives the impression he's capable of winning a race or two when everything falls into place. Phase Shift was second over 2m here last month but needs more today.
