In depth

Verdict

One of this unappealing bunch will savour the sweet taste of success; perhaps it will be HOAR FROST. Miss Cruisecontrol and Ask Nicely make up the short-list. Mick Channon's runners at this level always have to be feared and this filly was successful in a claiming contest back in June. She has come up short in handicap company since then and faces vastly different underfoot conditions here but may prove up to the task. Ask Nicely wasn't beaten too far in this grade at Wolverhampton on her latest start; she probably needs to improve a little for the softer ground and longer trip but is no forlorn hope. Pairumani Pat was due to race at Yarmouth on Thursday and would be of interest if he fares well there. Miss Cruisecontrol failed to get involved at Goodwood last time but the form of her Nottingham second marks her down as a player in this company. None of these could be given a confident vote but it's Hoar Frost that receives ours.
