In depth

Verdict

Celtic Artisan has his first run for Rebecca Menzies having won at Listowel in September. He may need this and also has a 7lb penalty to carry. Amirli was one of four entries from his yard at the four-day stages and should improve on his run here at the start of the month. But he was behind Bold Captain, who also beat Tashbeeh, Petergate and Lady Liz . Notnowsam only weakened at the last when fifth at Wetherby and appears to have claims on that form but newcomer NEW STREET may be the one to beat. Jim Best's grey won twice on the Flat and, though unraced since June, will have A P McCoy doing the steering so is clearly fancied to go close.
