In depth

Verdict

Mulligan's Gold is an interesting booking for Seb Sanders and he can defy topweight here, with Northern Chorus and Discotheque likely to provide the stiffest opposition. The selection comes from the in-form Tim Easterby yard and has already notched up a c&d success. He comes back to Catterick just 1lb higher than that win, he has a plumb draw from stall one, and is still in decent form, so we will side with him. Northern Chorus has run well here before without winning, and will enjoy this fast surface. Alan Dickman's gelding is still finding slow improvement and although more of a 5f specialist, he is not out of this. Discotheque will appreciate the return to 6f here and a drop in the weights should also prove favourable. That first win may not be too far away now, but perhaps not today, as Mulligan's Gold looks up to the task.
