In depth

Verdict

Kabis Amigos has obvious claims, and can complete a four-timer at the expense of Grand Opera, Sir Orpen and Major Magpie. Kabis Amigos found his form with a vengeance last month, rattling up a treble at Wolverhampton, and as he still looks favourably treated for his return to Turf, is fully expected to give Dandy Nicholls victory in this event for the second year running. In fact, the Sessay handler sent out the first three home 12 months ago, with True Night being followed by Hiccups and Serieux, and although saddling just the one now, that should be enough. The race is named after Gods Solution, who won no less than 11 races between 1985 and 1991, eight of them here at Catterick, and his former handler David Barron will therefore be keen to collect with Sir Orpen. Well handicapped compared to two years ago, he is sure to have been well primed to defy a seven-month break. Grand Opera opened his account in a fast-ground maiden at Carlisle in July despite missing the break, and has been given plenty of time to mature. We might see the best of him this year, while Major Magpie has topweight and is best watched, with preference for Kabis Amigos.
