In depth

Verdict

Role On can get the better of Camden George, with Allegedly So, Double Eagle and Irish raider Ramsden Boy seen as the other main contenders. Role On showed a glimpse of his ability when third to the useful Skipper's Brig on his bumper debut here in November, and then despite running green, proved far too strong for his rivals on his timber bow at Kelso last month. Blessed with plenty of stamina in his pedigree, the Nicky Richards inmate should relish the step up in trip, and as he is sure to know more now, he can follow up. Camden George has found one too good on both of his starts over hurdles at Market Rasen, with sloppy jumping not helping. Any mistakes here will be punished by the selection, but he should at least play some part. Allegedly So caused a real shock at Newcastle, popping in at 100-1, with a first-time tongue strap to help. Today will go a long way towards telling us whether that was just a fluke, while of the rest, Double Eagle has failed to progress since landing a bumper here on his debut, and Irish pointer Ramsden Boy is best watched. Mr Preacher Man has a mountain to climb with Role On based on their last meeting, and the latter is very the one to be on.
