      Verdict

Flash Ram is proving expensive to follow and more solid claims are held by Aperitif, who gets the vote over Ouninpohja. The last mentioned ran promisingly on his debut over 1m2f at Doncaster and again at Ripon dropped to a mile last time. It is questionable as to whether Alan Swinbank's gelding will be able to reproduce a similar level of form dropped even further to seven furlongs today. There should be no such problems with Aperitif, who ran up to his best when a close third behind the unexposed Kehaar in a Newmarket handicap last week and on that evidence he looks the one to be on. Good Time Bobby did not show much over hurdles and it has come as no surprise to see him show a similar level of ability on the flat. Neither of the newcomers Lumback and Minstrel's Double would need to be anything out of the ordinary but make limited appeal on pedigree and of more interest is Flash Ram. However, Tim Easterby's gelding has failed to progress as expected and a safer proposition looks to be Aperitif.
