Verdict

Kevin Ryan complicates matters by saddling two runners in the opening maiden auction event but Sophie's Hero, who belied market odds of 28/1 when a close second of 15 runners on his Newcastle debut last month, looks the pick of the two ahead of Paper Dreams and has every chance although preference is for NO POPPY. Tim Easterby's filly improved from her first promising start over course and distance when a close sixth in a better race than this at Redcar last month and she looks worth backing dropping into this grade off her light weight. Richard Fahey is another trainer that saddles two runners with Beverley third Philharmonic Hall looking the pick of the duo ahead of Louis Girl. James Given's Ajaafa and Jeremy Glover's Dr Red Eye are both interesting newcomers but those with experience have an advantage and the most interesting runner looks to be No Poppy, who gets the vote.
