In depth

Verdict

DAJEN is improving rapidly and is preferred to Satwa Laird. David Simcock's son of Kyllachy was impressive in a small field at Ffos Las in July and on ground that he handles should make a bold bid in defying his 5lb higher mark. Satwa Laird has top-weight to shoulder but his second to Start Right at Goodwood is very solid and this strong-stayer must go close if handling the ground (one promising run on soft as a juvenile). If we discount a Haydock flop then Secretive is considered a big threat but he would probably prefer quicker ground, a comment that also applies to recent Bath winner Purple Gallery. Perhaps of more interest are Salisbury winner Mr Irons, who doesn't look harshly punished with a 3lb rise in the handicap, and Mishrif who has plenty of talent but isn't the easiest to win with.
