    Verdict

Deira showed improved form when landing a Leicester handicap last time but Clive Brittain's filly has yet to prove her effectiveness over a mile and a safer bet looks to be Samuel Charles, who is preferred to the well-handicapped Landucci. The selection was not disgraced in a better race than this at Ascot last month and has solid claims at the weights on that evidence and earlier form. Given A Choice has every chance of beating the selection, as he did at Wolverhampton last month, meeting him on better terms today but James Given's runner is better over further and may not have the speed for this trip. Bee Stinger is closely matched with Samuel Charles on Ascot form and has to be considered but he may now be a shade high in the weights. Mujood has a nice racing weight, while at the top end of the handicap Katiypour has gone well here before and cannot be discounted. John Dunlop's Pillars of Wisdom and Landucci, who has dropped to a fair mark, are others to consider but preference is for the consistent Samuel Charles, who is taken to resume winning ways.
