    Verdict

Gems was reportedly suffering with a virus when pulled up here last month but looked fully recovered when scoring at Bath on Tuesday. She should figure again in this lesser grade and has the beating of Astroleo on earlier running at this track. There was little to separate Come On The Irons and Professor John over a shorter trip here last month and both have claims today, but a chance is taken on BRIGHT ABBEY. He was a well-beaten third when Kieren Fallon dropped his whip at Newmarket a week ago but still has plenty of scope for improvement on only his fifth start and is fancied to get off the mark today.
