Verdict

AHLAAIN sets the standard but it is not that exacting and it will be interesting to see if there's any support for Muntasib on debut whilst Pineapple Pete and Out Of The Storm are open to improvement. David Simcock has his team in good order and Ahlaain has an obvious chance to open his account having gone close at Yarmouth last time; the form may not be strong but the first two did pull clear of the field. Muntasib is bred to be useful but Marcus Tregoning doesn't have a great record with his newcomers here. Pineapple Pete is considered but will need to settle better than he did at Thirsk and of more interest may be Out Of The Storm who has shown ability on both starts and is reunited with Seb Sanders who rides this track particularly well. Cathcart Castle has a stone to find with the selection according to the handicapper so it's hard to get too excited about his chance even allowing for the fact that the cambers of this unique track may prove to be something of a leveller as he has it all to do to turn the tables on Ahlaain.
