Verdict

There was little wrong with the performance of GASELEE in winning an ordinary Musselburgh maiden last time and she may well now be capable of also getting it right in handicap company, though Hawkeyethenoo can also get very competitive. The selection stayed on strongly to win by a very easy nine lengths at the Scottish circuit, and she has clearly got more ability than she has shown in four starts prior to that. Rae Guest's filly carries a 6lb penalty for that here, equating to a mark of 61, and provided they don't dawdle then she should be up to the task. Hawkeyethenoo has shown glimpses of ability for Mick Easterby, and the shrewd local handler has seen his colt drop a further 2lbs in the ratings since finishing a well beaten runner-up last time out. The Irish-bred bay can surely get involved in this lowly affair and may well go close. Feeling Stylish remains a maiden after 10 starts and did not run badly in a Ripon seller last week. However, a win would be a bit of a surprise now back in a handicap and we will oppose. Hector's House gets further than this but may actually appreciate the drop in trip and should go well under top weight, but Gaselee is given the vote.
