      Verdict

None of these are easily dismissed. John Forbes has returned to the Flat in fine form this year winning his last two races at Doncaster and Newcastle. This is no tougher than his latest win despite a 7lb rise and he looks a leading contender, but RIPTIDE has more scope and he gets the vote. Michael Scudamore's charge scored at Warwick last time on only his fifth start on the level and is effectively dropping in class here. Markington won this last year off a 4lb higher mark and has to come into the reckoning, but Spiders Star has been beaten in a couple of starts off today's mark since winning over C&D last month. Redcar maiden winner Mojolika may improve for the longer trip.
